Formation Programme
|

|
The formation programme for the candidates who
would like to join the Oblates takes them in different stages.
The first Stage is the pre-novitiate
programme. This programme is done at the Oblate Formation
Centre in Lusaka and runs for two years. It is tailored for the
spiritual and academic growth of the candidates. During this
time the Pre-novices also undertake Clinical
Pastoral Education at the University Teaching Hospital.

After that the
candidates leave for the novitiate
programme in Johannesburg, RSA;
Doebra, Namibia; and Godfrey in the United States America. This
stage is a one year programme that zeros in on the spiritual
growth of the candidates. During the novitiate year, the
candidates are officially initiated into the Oblate way of life.
At the end of the novitiate year, the candidates commit themselves
to the work of the Lord by making their first Oblations. They then
proceed to the Scholasticate
where they will take up their studies in Philosophy and Theology
in preparation for Priesthood or Brotherhood.
Regency
is an integral part of the formation programme for the Zambia
Delegation. This takes one year and is normally done in one of the
missions in Zambia. It aims at making the candidates aware of the
needs of the people among which they will work in the future. It
also makes the candidates to evaluate the mission of the Oblates
before they actually commit themselves to the Oblate way of living
for life
