  EIGHT MAKE THEIR FIRST PROFESSION

February 2nd, 2006 marked the day of profession for eight young vibrant men. The event took place at St Joseph Parish in Namibia, Doebra. The eight men consisted of 4 from Zambia, Zimbabwe 1, and South Africa 3.

The celebration that started around 5 PM  attracted a crowd of people from all corners of Namibia. There were also some relatives and representatives from South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

His Grace Archbishop Ndumbukuti Riborias Nashenda, was the main celebrant. In his introductory words the Bishop likened the consecration and commitment of the eight novices to that of the presentation of the child Jesus in the  Temple: “In the same way and with the same grace Jesus was  presented, so you are being presented, offered, committed, consecrated, dedicated to the church and received in the Society of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate”.

Fr Evans Chinyama Chinyemba, Vicar and delegate from Zambia gave the homily. He challenged the eight to live and keep the vows to which they have said yes.

The eight took their vows. The four Zambian’s vows (Brs Chileshe Mulenga, Terence Kasonde Chota, Emmanuel Tembo and George Mandona) were received by Fr Evans Chinyemba, Vicar Superior of Zambia Delegation.

For the newly professed, the Novitiate experience was a grace filled and a life-giving journey.
