GREAT EXCITEMENT IN NALIONWA MISSION, KALABO

New Year...New Parish Priest. On the 8th January 2008, during Mass, we had two big reasons to praise the Lord. The first, we joined the universal church to celebrate the feast of Epiphany, the manifestation of the Son of God. The second reason was to welcome the new Parish priest, Father Patrick Chiso, Omi.

During the previous week a good number of people got involved in organizing a warm welcoming celebration. Missionary childhood, stellas (young girls dancing to praise the Lord), choir and Women’s league in a special way met to put ideas and creativity together.

Fr Joseph Phiri, Omi, the Zambia delegation Superior, came all the way from Lusaka to install the new parish Priest. He was the main celebrant and led us in prayer during a very solemn Mass. The hearts of people were filled with joy as they joined the choir and stellas in dancing, singing and praising God.

In his homily, Fr Joe invited the people to be open to Fr Chiso, to support him and to work together for the good of the entire Christian community.

In response, Fr Chiso committed himself to serve the people and to walk together with them. He renewed his promise to be at the service of God and of the people entrusted to him in Nalionwa Mission. After Mass all the people gathered in the Parish hall and the celebration continued with songs, dances and sketches.

Fr Chiso listened, enjoyed, laughed a lot and relaxed. At the end, Fr Chiso led the community in prayer and imparted on us the final blessing. People went home except Parish Council members, invited by Fr Joseph to introduce themselves to the new Parish Priest. We are happy to have Fr Chiso in our Parish. Happy stay among us.
