"He has sent me to preach the Gospel to the poor.  The Poor have the gospel preached to them"

Jesus called certain people to follow him.

He invited them to join him in his work.  Then he sent them out and they went to all the world as they knew it then.

From the beginning, the Catholic Church has been missionary.  Thousands of men and women have joined Christ’s work and living the gospel in a more intense – even radical – way.

It took almost 2000 years after the death of Christ for the good news to reach Zambia .  Thanks to the White fathers, the Jesuits, the Franciscans….they were followed by other priests, brothers and sisters.

Today, vocations to religious life and priesthood are coming from within Zambia …though not enough.

Zambia needs local priests and religious; the time has come for Zambia to be missionary: to send, not just to receive.  We need young Zambians to take the good news to others.  As we have received, so we should give.

What about you?

Could you feet the shoes of those who brought the gospel to Zambia ?

Could you respond to a challenge that a vocation is?

Think about it.  Pray about it.

May God bless YOU!

Appeal to the Youth

We, the Oblates say:

Don’t come with us just to be happy, but to make others happy.

Don’t come to fulfill yourself, but to make the kingdom come true and all other things will be given to you as well.

Don’t come to make a career for yourself, but to share the slow and patient march of the poor, of the people who suffer.

Don’t come to be loved, but to develop your capacity to love.

Don’t come to receive, but to give.

Don’t come to come, but to go.

Because we want to give the highest quality ministry to the church, to the people of Zambia and to the world, we are very demanding of anyone who wants to join our religious community.  Absolute dedication to Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, integrity of life, love of people, and a willingness to serve others are essential elements of an Oblate vocation.

Young men serious about dedicating their lives to God as a religious priest or brother may make enquiries to:
